Women
Helping women embrace life transitions
“You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them"
Maya Angelou, memoirist, poet, and civil rights activist
Peri-menopause, menopause & post-menopause
Increasing numbers of women seek support for anxiety, panic attacks and low mood, believing they may have a mental health condition, unaware that fluctuating hormones which occur during menopause are playing a significant part in their emotional wellbeing.
Often women can feel misunderstood and dismissed instead of being listened to and validated. This can lead to feelings of isolation and frustration.
Therapy provides a safe space for you to express your feelings and fears which often surface during the phases of menopause, which include those around ageing, identity and body image. This time of life often coincides with children leaving home (empty nest syndrome), caring for elderly parents, divorce and bereavement. It is therefore no surprise that this phase in a woman’s life can be challenging emotionally and physically.
By normalising these concerns and offering support tailored to your unique experience, I can help you to navigate this transition with greater confidence, resilience and hope. To enable you to see menopause as not a time of loss, but as an opportunity for personal growth and self-discovery.
Peri-natal & post-natal
Having a baby is a life-changing event of which none of us can predict how it will impact our sense of self and in many cases a feeling of isolation. The rollercoaster of hormonal changes which drive these emotions can occur before and after the birth of a child. This can be extremely disorientating and can produce unexpected feelings of fear, shame and inadequacy, to name just a few.
I will provide you with a totally non-judgmental space, to enable you to make sense of all the conflicting emotions and feelings you may be experiencing. We will work through these together to move you into a place of self-acceptance, self-confidence and resilience going forward.
Menstrual (PMT & Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD))
Many women suffer from intense psychological challenges every month which can severely impact their relationships, work and home life. Some women have a more pronounced reaction to hormonal shifts causing more extreme emotional distress. It can be difficult and embarrassing to talk about these psychological issues associated with menstruation, which can be isolating.
You may have felt dismissed or misunderstood by others. To be able to share those feelings without judgement can be a relief as well as be extremely liberating. I can provide you with a validating space to explore your experiences and how these affect you as an individual and your relationships.
A space to begin your therapeutic journey and thrive in personal development.
